CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY:
NEW HORIZONS' VIOLENCE PREVENTION "PACKAGE"

Rockville, MD - The New Horizons Support Network has created a "package" to deter violence for all Montgomery County residents with the gifts of love, peace and unity at its center.  The package developed by Marcia (Anastasia) Rosen is called the New Horizons/Kebzeh Community Development and Violence Prevention Model. The model will be officially unveiled at an Abkhazian dinner December 13 at Sam's Café in Rockville.

The elements of the New Horizons/Kebzeh model are as comprehensive as they are effective.  The prototype blends two highly successful, well-documented approaches for deterring violence and creating peace and harmony into one.  The first aspect, the New Horizons Learning Laboratory Model, is derived from a prison rehabilitation model begun in the late 1960's. The second aspect, Kebzeh, comes from a 26,000 year-old tradition of the Abkhazian people of the Caucasus Mountains.  (See attached for further details.)  The "package", originally created for Montgomery County is now spreading to Frederick, Washington and Jefferson County, West Virginia.

"It has taken me over twenty-five years to design the New Horizons/Kebzeh prototype and bring it to its present state of refinement," states Ms. Rosen, New Horizons Founder and Program Director.  "Built on my vision of bringing the kind of love and community involvement to the Washington, D.C, area that shaped my childhood in a small town in Ohio -and - having been blessed with the wherewithal to create the model, I have been determined to bring that ideal here."

In 1966, Ms. Rosen began U. S. "Male" Service, credited as being the first reminder and gift shopping service in the world. This venture propelled her into prominence as an innovative entrepreneur.  Attracting the interest of a relatively large number of Washingtonians at the time, popular response to the enterprise was among the things that made the nation's capital seem like a small town to Ms. Rosen. At the height of her glory, severe eye problems accompanied by a growing disillusionment with her idealized view of the nation's capital, resulted in her withdrawing from the business scene to regain her health. With emotional, family and physical health issues as her new focus, Ms. Rosen decided in 1973 to return to an earlier career choice in mental health. She took up the challenge of exploring the Dark Side of the human psyche and its role in the destructive aspects of relationships and society in general. A vision that came to her during one of her eye surgeries led her to discover her life's mission - to sort out these issues and someday return to the heart of Washington.  Her goal is to influence the proliferation of light and truth in the nation's capital and help to transform the Dark Side. Thus the seeds of the New Horizon's current violence prevention and peace-building efforts were sown.

New Horizons Support Network, Inc. provides volunteer training and educational programs to aid community members in learning how to deter violence. The organization brings together like-minded people to create model community structures that are loving and safe. Volunteers are now being sought to help expand the New Horizons/Kebzeh Community Development and Violence Prevention Model.  Donations as well as other types of funding for New Horizons programs, an approved 501c(3), are also now being sought to support the public application of this prototype.
